Chanoma

茶の間

A moment to unwind in the city.

Chanoma serves beef curry and buttered-corn curry with a choice of heat. Diners have praised the sweet corn against the spicy sauce, and some have asked for an extra helping of curry. Breakfast brings toast, while coffee and tea make an easy finish to a meal.

01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Chanoma, choosing a curry starts with choosing its heat. Both the beef curry and the buttered-corn curry come in mild, normal, slightly spicy and very spicy. One diner found even the normal option quite hot, so mild may be a good place to start if you are unsure. A guest who ordered the buttered-corn curry said the corn’s sweetness and texture worked well with the heat of the sauce.

The beef curry has also won praise for its generous pieces of beef, the texture of the onion and a sauce with a pronounced spice flavour. Diners have noted the crunch of cornflakes served over the rice, too. Some report asking for more curry sauce; trying another heat level this way can offer a chance to compare the flavours.

In the morning, choices include buttered or jam toast, as well as toast topped with egg or ham. After curry, there is a selection of drinks, from the Special Blend and café au lait to straight tea and Russian tea.
